All beings become hungry, and to satiate this hunger all beings must eat. All beings hunger for knowledge, and to satisfy this hunger, all beings learn. But food is only a means to an end: a fuel to power the body. When food becomes the end rather than the means, the body becomes heavy and sluggish. Knowledge is a means to an end: it fuels the mind so that experience and mindfulness can flow reflexively. When knowledge becomes the end rather than the means, so too the mind becomes heavy and lethargic, overburdened with thought.
